After a few months now of providing IPTV solutions,I feel its pertinent to post some observations & tips.
1. IPTV boxes-and any other streaming activity, will be affected IF you don`t have more than 2Mbps at night just for the IPTV box.
2. MEO Unlimited is the current best ISP hard wired solution.
3.IF you cannot hard wire,Optimus 4G WOW wi fi is acceptable IF you are in an area where you can receive more than 2Mbps at night. ***Try the 15 day trial because sometimes EVEN in areas where Optimus say you cannot receive..you can.
4. To have your Optimus perform at Optimum download the latest firmware from the Apio de cliente section on their website.***this is not for those not technically inclined/capable..
5. IF your Optimus "drops out" or drops down to 3G,open the back, take out the battery, wait 10 seconds..then pop back in..it re boots to 4G normally.
6.Optimus depends on line of sight to the mast..so IF you can position near an open window..it helps things...whatever,try not to have your Optimus router in a cuboard or closed cabinet..
7.Most ISP services "drop down" in bandwidth at peak times,so IF you do a speedtest do it at a peak time..9pm is a good time..
8.MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE ISP SERVICE YOU HAVE SIGNED FOR..some are not Unlimited and charge you IF you exceed a certain Gb per month.
9.IF you have numerous devices that you will use to consume bandwidth, try and calculate your needs before you purchase an "under powered" ISP service..a good rule of thumb is at least 2Mbps per device that will be used...5 devices used at the same time...5 x 2Mbps = 10Mbps..that`s what you need...
10.Think of Bandwidth as an "allocation" working on priority..let`s say you only have 2Mbps at night coming in and one person wants to watch IPTV which needs 2Mbps approx...your allocation is used...IF someone else trys to do anything else relating to using the internet or streaming Youtube etc.they won`t be able to...
11. If you have a PT ISP install ALWAYS get the engineers phone number-they get 25 Euros if you deal direct with them..they get nothing if you rebook through PT..you will get a better service by staying with the original engineer and someone familiar with your setup.
12. If you want to have the best IPTV box-the Blade HD,you will need to be hard wired and have an allocation of at least 5Mbps just for the HD IPTV.(*We have the Mag 250 for poorer ISP setups that can work down to 2Mbps.)
13. Remember MORE bandwidth is what you want..so the first question you should ask when purchasing an ISP contract is " How many MBps do you guarantee at night"..the second is "Is your service capped2...(*Some ISP services say they are Unlimited but cap you at either 4Gb,15gb or 35Gb..REALLY?...don`t touch ANY ISP service that is capped...
REMEMBER.....
The future of T.V./Movie/Music Entertainment is STREAMING..its already here with ITUNES and IPTV..your capability of infrastructure of ISP and internal Network is CRUCIAL..bandwidth is CRITICAL...
The days of having a dustbin lid stick on your house (*sorry..Satellite dish..) are coming to an end..SKY HD are moving towards an IPTV platform,Video Unlimited from Sony will be a major player in provision of streaming services..4K streaming (*4 x 1080p) for Europe is coming (*already in the U.S.)...
We have already upgraded numerous customers to our second generation HD IPTV platform..(*the only company in Europe with a second Gen HD box)..we shall continue to support our customers with cost effective upgrade as IPTV services further develop..
Working with Manufacturers and Service suppliers our continual aim is to provide the MOST reliable and quality IPTV systems possible..first and foremost we are enthusiasts who spend hundreds of hours on R & D and listening to what our customers want and providing the "punishment to fit the crime"..always..each customers setup is unique..as Home Cinema specialists we have always known this..we are not "box shifters"..we are an LDA company that offers Facturas and warranty on ALL that we provide..your box fails?..straight swap out within 24hrs...to date out of 350 boxes already supplied..not ONE failure...and that`s because of the R & D...
To ALL future customers considering "solutions" being touted by all and sundry..(**including the "spinning dish"..lose your channels every 5 mths for a week-sat "solution"..the buffering and erratic Filmon..the complexity of XBMC and tenuous links, the Chinese Android boxes that promise 10,000 channels and never work properly..if at all..)...save seeing us till last..ask our current customers about our service..or response in the rare event of an issue..about our pledge to upgrade folks and not lose them a copper on their original equipment price..about our assistance in ALL matters internet to try and ensure that folks can wind up with a great service and picture quality..
Yes, there are service provision charges for IPTV..that equates to 60 cents per day..we know there are a very few that won`t want to pay that..who will continue to struggle with lesser quality or less reliable platforms..we hope these folks come into our showrooms as well and see the quality, reliability and simplicity..because we want everybody to have the best solution ..and IF there is a small fee for perfection over no fee for mediocrity,we hope even to convince those few..
