THE IMPORTANCE OF QUALITY CINEMA SEATING..

Hello Folks,

With our new Cinema 360 seating we have set the bar for quality and fair price exceptionally high.

Poor cinema chairs can ruin a top notch Cinema..so what do you look for when choosing your Cinema seating?

SEEING IS BELIEVING....

ON the left are Cinema 360 MOVIE CHAIRS..on the right are chairs not from Projectiondreams.

The difference even to the untrained eye is apparent..the chairs on the LEFT look far better eh?

Why is this?

We have our Cinema chairs built to the highest specifications using first the strongest frames and best german motors, then using the best leathers, the leather is carefully stretched and cut..it is a labour of love-for example our red chairs pictures above have silver accents from aluminium on the cup holders and recline buttons..no plastic as with the other chairs..

Poor Cinema chairs come in three colours..creme,brown and black.....

OUR chairs can be any colour..any design..any features..whatever you want!..In fact-draw us a design you want and in 2 WEEKS you will have the seating of your dreams..or of course-you can  wait over 6 weeks for the chairs on the right to arrive on the slow boat from China..:-)

You will see from this pic how well the leather is attached in contrast with the pic on the right that has loose fitting leather..poor padding..and if you look at the bottom of the chairs unequal sight lines..

The chairs on the right are made in the far east and made cheaply and quickly..open them up you will find a poor frame and a plethora of cardboard..you could easily lift one of these chairs on your own...

Our seating is built with a sturdy frame to last and needs two people to lift each chair..our chairs are white glove installed by the professionals that have built them..and installed onsite....

To us this is a HUGE deal,,,,,the seating or Entertainment 360 couches are an incredibly important element of a Cinema or Entertainment room and need to be given the same due care and attention as every other element of that Cinema/Entertainment area...

There are many..MANY.. companies charging top dollar for the kind of chairs seen on the right in the top picture-recently we have upgraded one customer that bought the kind of chairs on the right and paid over 2,000 Euros per seat...30% more expensive than our Movie seating using the above example....

We care not a jot about other A.V. companies in the Algarve..but you- the customer should..you should apprise yourself of these kind of differences-seldom observed until after the install...

You are welcome to come and see our cinema seating in our showrooms..then go and see whatever else..wherever else..you like..

We KNOW you will come back to us..:-)...;lastly..consider this,,IF there is such a vast improvement in quality with our cinema chairs over others..what does that tell you about everything else we do?..because it isn`t such a great leap of faith to believe we are superior in every other dept..and we can prove that as well..

THE HISTORY OF THX IN CINEMAS AND PROJECTIONDREAMS PROGRESSION WITHIN THE HOME...

Dear Folks,

The Audience is Listening
Born out of the Star Wars legacy and tied to one of the world’s most acclaimed filmmakers, no other brand resonates with consumers as deeply, and with greater trust than THX.
One week after “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” debuted in theaters, George Lucas hired audio scientist, Tomlinson Holman, to design the audio mixing facilities at Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in Northern California. To begin the project, Lucas gave Holman one year to examine film audio throughout the entire production chain—from the set to the theater, and everything in between. Holman’s goal was to find a way to improve cinematic sound production and create specifications to design the state-of-the-art audio mixing rooms that would eventually house Skywalker Sound.
During that year, Holman was shocked to discover the state of most commercial cinemas. While Dolby Laboratories had made significant contributions to how sound was recorded and played back on film, no one had control over what happened on the production set or in the theater itself. Holman found that most commercial theaters had not seen significant technology improvements since World War II. Viewing angles were poor, inadequate light levels distorted images, and the quality of sound systems and auditorium acoustics made it impossible to hear the dialogue, let alone experience the filmmaker’s vision.

Bringing The THX Experience To Moviegoers

After the Skywalker Sound audio facilities and Stag Theater were completed, Lucasfilm began receiving requests from visiting commercial theater owners and Hollywood studio executives to incorporate the Ranch’s performance standards into their cinema auditoriums and aging mixing rooms. Realizing that this could change the way moviegoers experienced feature films, Lucas and the soon-to-be THX team designed a certification program to go beyond the walls of Skywalker Ranch. Thus, THX was born, and made available to movie audiences to coincide with the release of Lucas’ next film, “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” in 1983.
“While filmmakers were spending millions of dollars and using new computer technology to perfect the sound and picture in the post-production studio, the quality was being lost on movie audiences,” said John Dahl, director of education and resident historian at THX Ltd. “By creating a set of standards for theater design and enforcing performance levels of presentation equipment, THX was ensuring that the film experience would translate from studios to every theater.”
From a technical standpoint, the THX Cinema Certification specifications consolidated presentation technologies from various sources into one set of design standards. These standards extend the frequency range of cinema loudspeakers, resulting in an even distribution of sound throughout the auditorium. They also allow sound designers to extend the dynamic range of sound effects and create a more enveloping presentation.
THX also sets guidelines for room acoustics, reverberation time and background noise, and noise isolation to ensure that every detail of the sonic presentation is accurately delivered the way the filmmaker intended. But it’s not just about sound. THX sets standards for viewing angles, projectors and onscreen lighting levels, to make sure that the best possible image is always displayed.
So THX was always an ideology to ensure that in the build and setup,a Movie could be heard and displayed at optimum.
In the halcyon days of THX,a THX sound system was the best you could have,,ALL equipment had to be THX certified and pass rigorous tests.
The most important elements being the speakers and amplification..
In the late nineties,THX began certification for THX approved Home Theater Installers..that could learn the above ideology and be able to apply into an install...this is not to be confused with the 3/4 day Calibration courses THX offer now which is a variant of the courses ISF (*the Image Sound Foundation) have run for many years.
Indeed,it was always the de facto standard in Cinema installs to have a THX audio system and setup PLUS an ISF calibration..horses for courses,,,
As THX have held the high ground in audio setup..so have ISF with video setup...ALL video standards now have been influenced by ISF...all criteria applied..whether on a THX calibration course or a JKP (*Joe Kane) calibration course are built on the foundations that Joel Silver (*president of ISF) established.
I personally trained under Joel Silver some 15 years ago and Sencore trained as well,Alistair gained his Home Theater THX acreditation almost 6 years ago under John Dahl...
Since then, using all this background plus ARRI 35MM setup skills,CRT setup grounding etc we have created CINEMA360..a total ideology encompassing all the best bits from THX,ISF,ARRI,HAA and much more...
In our systems we lean heavily towards THX certified products and apply requisite criteria in audio and video setup that goes a few steps further in the home than THX in the cinema..with our EXPERT SETUP we are though faithful to the best doctrines of all the above companies as a foundation and a great part of our Cinema360 total ideology. ..
ALL the products we use or custom build  (*like Movie chairs,Acoustic panels etc..) are designed and built with Cinema360 criteria...
There are other companies that send one of their chaps of a 3/4 day course then tout that cinema as a THX cinema..this is a BLATANT LIE....it is not...it may have a video setup by a chap that has sat the brief course..but that doesnt make it a THX cinema...
I firmly believe now that with all due respect to THX and all they have done for audio..they have jumped on the video bandwagon of ISF calibrations-added an extra day to the course with the idea being that it can be touted as better...:-)
Well, thats a matter of opinion and not one I share-especially as the criteria they use is heavily lifted from industry standards implemented by ISF and evaluations/diagrams devised by Joel Silver & Joe Kane..
For myself, there are things in the THX mandates and ISF mandates that are terrific..there are other things that can be further improved..the skill of course through experience is knowing what best mix to achieve,,,what makes that total synergy that leads to Cinema Heaven....this experience comes from 40 years associated..in some way..with Movies...
My video calibrations for example lean away a little from D65..i see this as a starting point to be improved further and a Cinema360 Expert Setup aims to achieve a more dynamic picture for today era as opposed to certain criteria that attempt to lock us in the 12 ft lambert days of celluloid..
In Video and Audio setup, the real skill is not knowing what to change..but what not to..to have a repository of audio/video references that stretch back over those 40 years...
I have said many times in forums..Rembrandt didn`t paint by numbers-he took the criteria of his day and tweaked and improved upon it to create masterpieces..ALL standards and rules are made to be improved upon by the adept..
in short, one must learn his trade..and that takes many, many years to arrive at Cinema360 total ideology..no 3/4 day course can ever replace that..it is just part of the learning curve-thats all...
Of course the god of commercialism wants to sell as many courses as possible to award one with a badge..thats all it is now..the 3/4 day trainees will chant parrot fashion what they do..and not know why..or what is best even..
This ONLY comes with time...many years of time..:-)..the groundwork must go in..
With video setups for example,I have calculated that JUST during the period Projectiondreams were the most prolific CRT seller in Europe that I setup hundreds of different crt projectors..Marquees,Barcos,Sonys,NEC,Dwin,Vidikron,Ampro`s,Runcos...you name it..
In fact the first words Joel Silver ever said to me on my course were-in front of the class.."Heres a guy that already knows about setup"...and I did..i didn`t know the technical explanations as to why I had arrived where I HAD..but I knew already how to focus,align,keystone..how to achieve accurate brightness with the correct G2 settings,,for example the Sony G90 always had high blue tube G2 settings to gain more brightness..this defocused the blue grid and somewhat softened the entire picture..turn the g2 down on the blue tube a tad made the blue grid as sharp as the green and red,,which made a sharper picture overall....
I found each crt projector had its own foibles..NECs had the best colours,Barcos the best contrast,Sonys were the brightest..Marquees were the best all rounders....so what was learnt over 5/6 years was exactly had to make each projector shine..
I remember when a customer I was buying a Sony G70 crt projector from had traded up to a G90 9" tube and flown William Phelps over from the U.S. to do his setup..I was excited to see what the "master" could eke out of a projector...at the time round my house I had a NEC XG135LC an 8" tube projector I had briefly setup...
iI went round the customers house and William had finished his setup..and it was a great picture..BUT..no better than my NEC..and it should have been..it was then I knew that I had an affinity with video and had an inhertant skill to get the best picture out of a video device....
This ideology applies to digital projectors as well..what are the ideal settings for Sony projectors now..do they have certain common traits out of the box that can be improved upon?..Of course..it is in the recognition of how a projector is performing that tells you what needs to change..or not...
This skill is MANDATORY for someone that professes to build Home Cinemas..he/she should know optimal viewing angles..brightness levels..correct degree of sharpness to apply..(or not)..ideal throw...acoustic behaviour and requisite evaluation of the space...and measurements should be taken at certain points...
Again..this all comes with many years of on the job learning..
NOBODY is perfect and we all have our faults..i`m not an ostentatious chap..but in Video calibration I think i`m rather good..I know i`m in the top five in mosts books...I mention this because normally I keep quiet about these skills..(**I had a challenge out in a U.K. forum for 7 years..and that challenge was.."I will improve that picture-and if i do..you give me the projector..if i cant..i`ll give you a projector.."..challenge was never taken up..not once..)...and really I shouldn`t because its a crucial part of a Cinema Install..IF it cannot be proven to a customer they will get a great picture-or a great sound..why would they engage a company...?
Now achieving good sound today isn`t difficult...most speakers over a grand will sound decent...but great sound?..that`s different..accurate sound?..great imaging?..in relation to Cinema..THX speakers should be the norm..horn speakers should be the norm..there are of course notable exceptions...these exceptions do not include in the main..speakers designed solely for music then regurgitated in a 7 speaker package system as "Cinema speakers"..

I recently dealt with a customer that had bought some digital speakers manufactured by a well known piano maker..so they should sound good eh?..well no..no more than a well known Banjo maker could automatically make great speakers nor can a well known piano manufacturer..they were very sharp..clear..reasonably focused..not too bad..kind of how I remembered them when I first heard a few years ago..but then..my god..shrill at higher volumes...average imaging and absolutely NO depth or warnth at all..in fact, absolutely endemic of most digital speakers..and certainly not a patch on Meridian..(In addition, the placement of the speakers was incorrect as was the spacing which didn`t help..)

Indeed, often its the rhetoric of the salesman and "selected" audio snippets that sells a speaker brand as opposed to the real quality..ANY person buying a speaker should demo many brands-and take their OWN cd`s to find what is right for them at their pricepoint..these digital speakers..for what they are-are wayyyy over priced..and failed dismally in the U.S...from an overall sound perspective they are  soundly thrashed.by many- far more cost effective speakers..

I always say to people that its the technology of the speakers that influences the sound..not the brand or the price..a digital speaker is a very sharp-sometimes grating sound-in a cinema..with the exception of Meridian ..a ribbon speaker is a very expansive sound..electrostatics have superb imaging..horns..fantastic  for cinemas ..incredibly efficient from a whisper to an explosion..(*thats why horns are in ALL the top commercial cinemas..)..

But a truly great picture?..thats an art..and I will put my money where my mouth is..I don`t care WHO has installed your cinema or display..past or present..I will improve that picture..WHOEVER has set it up..and I will improve it in a maximum of 30mins..(*of course..IF i really took my time it would be better still..:-)
I know..KNOW..there are many folks out there unhappy..unhappy with their cinema..their picture..their sound..their acoustic panels..their plethora of remotes or non working home automation-and they shouldn`t be..they should be over joyed in their experience...
Your picture?..I will improve for free...I will tell you EXACTLY what is wrong with that other companies Cinema..and Projectiondreams will correct..cost + 10%...there is no need to suffer mediocrity any longer..:-)
My aim is that people with Cinemas really..REALLY love them and enjoy them..Cinema360 ideology and proficiency over many years will cure for you!
Best Regards,
Vince

WORKING TO RESTORE THE CONFIDENCE IN A.V.IN THE ALGARVE...end of year recap..

Dear Folks,

Projectiondreams have traded for 15 years..cutting their teeth in commercial installs and becoming the biggest seller of esoteric CRT projectors in Europe. Where skill in setup was everything.

Over the last 5 years we have built our install division in Portugal-starting in Lagoa and through level of business having to move to Almancil and aquire larger showrooms...

It has been a labour of love and an opportunity for us to do some great and highly aclaimed work-which we shall continue to do.

As the most technically qualified company in Portugal by a country mile our solutions are always cutting edge in both our product blend and cinema design..indeed,as we end this year we end it with numerous industry accolade for the first themed cinema ever in Portugal-the STARGATE...

One Portugese distributor put it like this...

"There has never been any cinema completed in Portugal-themed or otherwise-that comes anywhere close to the excellence, innovation and quality of the STARGATE"..

Of course the STARGATE was for a major developer in a 15 million euro villa..so it had to be special....

One customer actually asked this developer for a reference for us..

This is what he said...

"There is nobody in Europe-let alone Portugal-that can do the level of work these guys can..dont even consider anyone else"...

*This was our second cinema for this developer..the first was the first completely circular cinema in Europe..the MATRIX...

We havent rested on our laurels though, nor do we only swim in the waters of the very high end..every project we do..however big or small garners the same focus and attention to detail..we love what we do..we are not some pseudo corporate entity..we are a small specialist company and proud of it....when PROJECTIONDREAMS are engaged you get Vincent Myers-our M.D.s involvement as well..in every aspect...one of the most qualified men in A.V. in the world..15-20 years in front of most in the experience and knowledge stakes...

In 15 years Projectiondreams havent lost money or changed the name of their company..in the A.V. world we have long been respected way back to crt days..

But in the Algarve it has been a long struggle to restore folks confidence in A.V. due to the fact that past mediocre companies have constantly let them down, over charged them, not set their products up correctly, run off with deposits..or their kit..you name it...

In fact recently I heard an amusing story (*not for the customer obviously) of how one particularly inept mob put up so called "acoustic" panels on the wall that when the music was turned up..fell off...in the end this company had a marvellously inventive solution..they wedged the panels with bits of paper....my god....

The poor customers of this very same job, came to see us too late after having their "cinema" by this other mob..they were crestfallen..they were unhappy with the size of screen..the chairs..the panels...they knew they had paid through the nose..being new to the Algarve they said they wished they had known of us earlier...

We have offered to resolve these issues...

In fact ..just a year ago,I was asked for advice by the often absent owner of this same mob- he asked this question.."How do you build a cinema"?...

It seems they still don`t know....

Don`t get me wrong,I denigrate no one individual-i`m sure there are decent folks working at the poorest of companies..i denigrate the mentality that allows the pepetuation of the mediocre-a mentality that through lack of experience cannot necessarily make the right choices..a mentality that can only steer the ship on the wrong course within a custom install market that depends on professionalism and experience learnt to really perform...and this kind of mentality alone can make decent employees look fools, because to "sail" well every company needs an experienced "Captain"...

I mean when I was eight I wanted to be an astronaut..desire to do something is not enough..not at a custom install level...background is KEY..Projectiondreams wouldn`t have considered stepping into the custom install market without the requisite background..it is experience ONLY that is king in this industry..

http://www.projectiondreams.com/20664/portugal-home-cinema/history/

Indeed,we should all hope companies could be honest and say.."We are new-with little industry experience-but we have a desire to do great work" rather than pretend to be something that clearly they are not..that`s what irks me..when I see other embryonic and inexperienced companies essentially try and position themselves way beyond their achievements...this is false and misleading for the customer...and muddies the waters of clear choice..

Projectiondreams have earnt their spurs over 15 years plus..in every aspect of the industry..thats why we are called upon for example,to calibrate European demonstration 4k projectors for Sony Professional...with all their choice..they choose us..

We bear no bitterness to any other company, but sometimes we do kind of feel like Elvis (*with millions of records sold and numerous sell out concerts) may have thought if some pub singer who had sung down his local only had come along and started saying he was as good a singer though he had never sold a record,,:-).....

We also don`t denigrate true experienced persons in other areas of the industry, for example in Home Automation, Duncan Ellis is a great AMX programmer..so IF you want AMX..Duncans your man and quite possibly the best AMX guy out there..respected within the industry...but Duncan would be the first to tell you..with Cinemas etc..its Projectiondreams he would refer..as we would involve/refer Duncan on ANY project that needed AMX..we are honest enough to say we couldn`t better him in this area..

At the end of the day each company has its area of expertise...and of course collaboration of the best can only be good for the customer..

Of course,if real stern Custom Cinema competition to us were to come..Projectiondreams will gladly embrace the challenge .and still do the best work...it matters not a jot to us about any "others"..we are confident in our abilities in our areas of disciplines.

But,we will do our very best by quality of work, to continue to justly relegate mediocrity from "others" to the touchlines...lest more customers suffer ...

People that want a cinema..entertainment room or just a t.v. deserve the best..the best prices..the best work...Projectiondreams are here to do that..

Thankfully, most are now aware that Projectiondreams are a clear choice and know that we are restoring the confidence in A.V. with the continued quality and service we provide..12 of our jobs this year have been correcting mistakes made by others....

ULTIMATELY..the proof is in the pudding of the completed job..and we constantly say ..we are the innovators..not the imitators...

In addition to our superior proficiency in the technical arena and job portfolio ..we are the ONLY a.v. install company in the Algarve that publishes their prices..they are all here for customers to see...

www.projectiondreams.com

www.customcinema360.com

These are the prices our customers pay..whether in an install or straight from the site..the price is the same..and here i will give a strong tip..DO NOT buy from anyone where you cannot peruse their pricing of cinema products on their site...

There are still charlotans, amateurs and over chargers out there where their only "superiority" over Projectiondreams is how much extra they can extract from your wallet unecessarily.

So be careful...

For us,our company has restored the benchmark of quality and transparency of pricing for the Algarve customer..the proof is apparent...for all to see...talk is cheap..we believe actions speak louder than words.

..and P.S...OUR acoustic panels don`t fall off the wall either..:-)...because they are built correctly..

Best Regards,

THE VALUE OF A DISTRIBUTOR..PAST & PRESENT..

Dear Folks..(*and other dealers..)

In the good old days there were specialist dealers who through product knowledge and experience, formulated their own product choices to sell using a variety of distributors..

The distributors supported the dealer by holding stock and indeed offering training on certain  products IF it was required..

Invariably, the dealers had showrooms where they could show their solutions and explain their service..they had autonomy..and often-uniquety of product...

Over time, customers saw quite clearly who was a specialist dealer..who offered the best product mix..invariably this decision was by demonstration at the dealers facilities..the eyes and ears did not lie..:-)

For me,many years ago..I had my preferences in the u.k..the Listening Rooms..the Cornflake shop...Absolute Sounds.(*who I am now affiliated with..)..Fantastic dealers with a superb selection of products..

In my opinion, these three companies were miles in front of anyone else..and still are in the U.K.

Of course, other folks may have their own favourites-but the key thing here is the choice to have such and determine for yourself..the "Best"...

This was the fun of A.V. for me..going to the different showrooms and experiencing different set ups..different products etc...

..Of course, there are still these companies...there will always be specialist companies with unique solutions..Projectiondreams is proud to be one of these type  of companies...

BUT...I see a worrying trend emerging in certain parts of Europe that can all but kill uniquety and specialisation..the distributor showrooms....sometimes called "Experience Centers".

This is where a distributor fits out a showroom with the products they distribute..here they show the public..essentially make the pre lim sale- then pass the work to the "appropriate" dealer...

Straight away the dealer becomes the installer for the distributor..as opposed to a specialist SUPPORTED by a selection of distributors to achieve the product blend THEY want...

There is a hidden agenda here by such distributors..namely they know that more and more companies are selling direct..or straight to the dealer..(*cutting out an extra markup by the distributor that invariably puts an extra 25%-40% on a products price..)

They KNOW the writing is on the wall for them..so they aim to create their own dealerships at the expense of the true dealers who will HAVE to comply and become installers for these "distributors"...

Of course..some dealers are just plain lazy and of course its easy to let someone else "gain the food..and you beg for scraps"

IF this is allowed to continue..let me forecast what will happen...

1. An army of mediocre dealers that can`t think for themselves ALL selling the same things-not the best but the items that gain most margin for the distributor and price competing against each other...

2. Little choice for the customer and the reduction of specialist and experienced dealers.

3.The "elimination" of any dealer that doesnt do precisely what they are told by the distributor.

4.Favouritism to specific dealers adept at "brown nosing"-not necessarily the best..

I would urge ANY dealer to absolutely have NOTHING to do with ANY distributor that operates like this..we don`t need disitributors with a "god complex" reducing dealers to installers only..

We DONT need distributors that "force" you to purchase exhorbitantly priced training BEFORE you are deemed worthy to sell the product....

NO dealer IF he has confidence in his own ability/experience needs an "Experience Center" run by someone else..go open your own specialist showrooms..and show what YOU are capable of...lest TRUE specialisation dies...

At Projectiondreams we know that the best products are seldom the best known..brand awareness can be built on anything-however capable...and fellow dealers..you will agree with me when I say this...a lot of the "known" brands are pretty poor in comparison to other more specialist and lesser known products....

For me...as an enthusiast first and foremost-the greatest fun of having my own specialist showrooms is in finding a great product that NOBODY knows about..that offers awesome value and betters the "masses" offerings...

What I do know is that ANY dealer worth his salt will 100%  agree with me and know exactly what I am talking about..

Of course we have supermarkets now as well...dying are the specialist butchers, greengrocers and bakers-to name a few...but can any of us ..hand on heart, say the food is better now?..

This is what these distributors seek to achieve..supermarkets for A.V....the same..everywhere...

We must not let this happen..we must fight with every fibre of our being to prevent this and preserve quality, uniquety and specialisation...

Now,how could this distributor model have worked?

Very simple..open "experience centers" ONLY for the dealers..make the investment FOR the dealers..let the dealers make the choice IF that distributor is one he wants to use..check that distributors "Experience Center" against another distributors "Experience Center"....mix and match using YOUR skill...

EVERY distributor must add value to the mix to justify his slice of the cake..hold stock..support the dealers..etc...offer FREE training..(*and yes..many distributors used to do this once..)...

Frankly,I think distributors know they are "dead ducks" in this current market...they know dealers can buy direct from many companies and offer tremendous value for money to the customer..their bid for survival is to make themselves the dealers...How do you win the game?..own both the teams..this is what such distributors seek to do..OWN all the dealers..turn them into their installers..then what happens?....what do you think guys?....YOUR margins will diminish and who do you complain to>?..

To ALL dealers that are currently working with distributors that work in the above way..you are being led..like lambs..to the slaughter...

I have a policy at Projectiondreams and that is I will not buy from ANY distributor that doesnt offer value or who adds ridiculous markups to the manufacturer price...

There are thousands of mechanisms to buy..direct..from the U.S...from numerous distributors..I currently use about 6...on top of the numerous direct mechanisms and self manufacturing mechanisms I have...its this variety that ensures Projectiondreams stays unique  with their product mix..and cost effective with our prices...

I will only sell that which I believe in..which I have validated and through experience ..learnt first hand about...I won`t take a distributors word..because that is always going to be biased to the products they advocate..I shall make my own mind up..

Of course thats what ALL the great dealers do..they go to trade shows..they read reviews..talk in forums..spend hundreds of hours on R & D...and they teach themselves..through experience....

//And chaps?....IF you have to go and pay a grand to go to some dubious and greedy distributors "training"..you are either cr*p and shouldn`t be in the game..or that product is too bl**dy complicated to be selling to customers..:-)

Audio Video isn`t..and shouldn`t be complicated..it should be easy..IF we put in a System ..that your granny couldn`t figure out in 2 minutes..then we have failed..

The complicated part of Audio Video should be in the ingenuity, the behind the scenes, the uniquety..the product mix..the calibration..ALL should be transparent to the customer....

At Projectiondreams we value our autonomy..our experience..WE are the "Experience Center"..our showrooms show our customers what is possible..they deal with us..they get OUR solutions..nobody elses..:-)

The dealers should be capable enough to lead the distributors and the distributors support the dealers..not the other way round..

I see people sitting on CEDIA type boards that have a vested interest in "promoting" the dealers that patronise their "Experience Centers"...some may say "the fix is in"..

In fact until recently, the criteria for submitting a cinema install to CEDIA for example, was it had to have a 16.9 screen...when 2.35.1 screens were accepted as the most cinematic type screen for an install-and had been for some years.....daft eh?

Even dafter was the main criteria for Cedia acceptance..apart from paying them money for the privilidge..was you had to have done 3 cinemas...didnt have to be anything special to qualify just follow the daft "rules"....

Can you imagine saying to Michealangelo that he cant get into the painting school because he had only painted the Cistene Chapel and not used the paint brush specified...but admitting the bloke that had painted the outside walls of 3 houses plain white...:-)...??????

Yes,,I know its ridiculous.. its a ridiculous "members club" scenario in Europe it seems..for paying mates to self award each other...kind of like the masons for Audio Video..and thats a damn shame because when CEDIA for example started in the U.S. it was a breath of fresh air in an emerging industry..

But in Europe?..well suffice it to say..not quite the same..:-)....

I believe in the attainment of something special..not the praise of the mediocre just because you pay a members fee...and of course..cutting edge will always be in front of an outdated criteria...

Ultimately,I guess its all about loving that which you do enough to push way beyond "agreed" boundaries that are set by the less capable...

At Projectiondreams we follow OUR criteria..our knowledge..our experience...we dont need distributors or "private members clubs" to coerce us into presenting products or indeed creating Cinemas -that are lacking and not cutting edge.

We establish our own benchmarks constantly..and they will be way beyond outdated criterias established by in some cases..distributors that would have trouble building something out of LEGGO..let alone a Cinema..:-)

Dealers UNITE and rid our industry of these stuff shirted, god complexed and greedy mediocrities...

Best Regards,

CINEMA 360 S.S.A. (*SURFACE SOUND ACTIVATION)

Hello Folks!

I have tried ALL these so called "invisible speakers" which traditionally consist of normal driver array  speakers plastered over..they sound terrible ..they crack the plaster over time-and you have to pull half your wall out if you have a problem.

Indeed, these speakers shouldnt be called "invisible" they should be called "covered" because thats what they are..normal speakers ..covered with plaster..

They are a gimmick only..

The future for multi channel sound and multi room audio is not this old technology plastered over..the future is non vibrational surface sound activation using smart material.

The Future is S.S.A.-Surface Sound Activation..

PROJECTIONDREAMS SECURE MANUFACTURING DIVISION FOR CUSTOM SEATING!

Hello Folks!

Some FANTASTIC news for Cinema lovers..;-)

We have secured a site in Europe for the specific purpose of custom building Cinema seating/Entertainment Room Lounges and Chaise Longes etc..

Traditionally, quality Cinema Seating with A grade leather has been ridiculously expensive because most A.V. companies buy from Cinema seating companies then apply 40%..

Well..straight away with us you are saving that 40% because we supply you direct from our manufacturing division ..no "middle men" involved..

To put this into context, quality Cinema seating from A.V. companies can range from 2k (average grade) to 4k PER SEAT..(A grade).

Our seating-at the highest  A quality leather-will be between 1.5k and 1.7k per seat...and these will be AS GOOD as the 4k seats..:-)

This will save our customers..based on an 8 seat cinema..upto 20,000 Euros...not insignificant eh?

In addition to this..with our seating there are NO limitations..you can even custom design your own..with monograms..and a plethora of extras...the electronic recline facility will be the best in the business using top Somfy motors..

We also have HUNDREDS of colours for you to choose from..as well as being able to supply in velvet,suede,material..you name it..

..But its not just Cinema seating..we can do ANY type of Lounge or Chaise Longe you heart desires-with our emulation facility we can replicate the most expensive designs far more cost effectively but using the same materials...

People in the industry know this is the Holy Grail of Custom Cinema Installs and Entertainment Room equipping.

Indeed, already we have submitted proposals to major U.K. a.v. chains who have accepted and will use our seating in their installs around the U.K.....so we are incredibly excited about this which takes traditionally, one of the most expensive elements in a Custom Cinema and makes it eminently affordable creating more budget for the equipment..:-)

For customers and developers alike this further secures Projectiondreams as not only the best choice but the most cost effective..

Rgds,
Vince Myers..M.D.
